This study was implemented to examine the effects of a ‘Sentence Writing Strategy’ intervention to the abilities of sentence writing of elementary students with learning disabilities (LD) and underachievements(UA). The subjects were three sixth graders with LD and three sixth graders with UA from an elementary school in \'B\' city. It started on May 26th, 2005 and ended on November 30th, 2005 with 20 to 26 sessions for seven months. The ‘Horang-ee Sentence Writing Strategy’ was developed by Youn Ock Kim (2004). The strategy is composed of 13 units. This study employed the five stages to instruct the Strategy and a multiple-baseline design across students to examine the effects of the Strategies instruction. This design can verify the effects of the ‘Horang-ee Sentence Writing Strategy’ to the abilities of sentence-writing of elementary students with LD and UA. As the results, the subjects mastered the Strategy, and the sentence writing abilities of students with LD and UA were improved remarkably. The ‘Sentence Writing Strategy’ was more effectively maintained to students with UA in comparing with LD students. More systematic and objective researches related to the study are necessary successively. Furthermore, the strategy inservice training should be provided for special educators with sufficient hours of training base.
