The purpose of this study was to find out a curriculum draft for academic therapist by analyzing the present domestic training programs for special education-related therapist, compared with the prerequisites for music therapist and art therapist in the United States, and the international standards of Council for Exceptional Children. First, the actual conditions of formation and management of the training programs were clarified in the training programs for behavior therapist, speech and language therapist, music therapist, art therapist, and play therapist. They were based on prerequisites, curricula, subject of qualification examination, training procedures, and the maintenance of licensure. Second, the points at issue in the present domestic training programs for special education-related therapist were clarified by comparing with the programs for music therapist and art therapist in the United States and international standards of Council for Exceptional Children. Third, a tentative curriculum plan for academic therapist was designed based on diploma possession, training procedure, qualification examination, basic subject matters to be completed, subject matters on the related therapies, practical skill, capability for research, supervisory requirement, the maintenance of licensure. Further discussion was suggested in order to complement a tentative curriculum plan which is requisite for training academic therapist.
